Newborn |
Little Shyla was born October 29th 2008 by cesarean section, with developmental dysplasia of the hip. Not only were Mom & Dad not insured, there was not a local doctor in the Monterey area that specialized in infant hip dysplasia. A nurse at the maternity ward suggested applying to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, a volunteer organization that specializes in orthopedics, burns and other pediatric problems. |

Pavlik Harness |
Shyla was accepted for treatment and mom and dad regularly commuted to Sacramento where the wonderful medical staff at Shriner’s fitted her first with a Pavlik harness and after a few more weeks, into a spica cast. |

Visiting Shriner's |
After about 7 months of immobilization Shyla’s hip dysplasia was resolved and she quickly learned how to do all the baby stuff that we take for granted (like kicking, crawling, cuddling). |

Playtime |
Shyla is now a healthy, happy little girl and her mobility skills have progressed astonishingly well! |

Grandma and Shyla would like to show our appreciation for the doctors, staff, and all the volunteers at Shriner’s Children’s Hospital for their dedication and compassion in helping those who are not fortunate to have the funds or medical insurance for their health care, so for each of the very popular “Shyla’s Gift” Package that is done at The Body Suite Day Spa, Grandma will donate $5 to the Shriner’s organization. If you would like to make any additional donation it would be greatly appreciated by the children and families that receive the care, love and attention of the Shriner’s organization. |
